Standard Operating Procedure: Backup and Restore EWON Configuration using eBuddy

 

Purpose

The purpose of this Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is to provide a step-by-step guide on how to backup and restore the configuration of an EWON device using eBuddy software. This procedure ensures that in the event of an Ewon failure the configuration can be completely restored, saving programming time. The backup/restore feature can also be used to replicate a configuration for applications such as multiple mobile units that feature the same configuration.

 

Scope

This SOP applies to EWON Flexy devices that have a direct connection to a PC, via ethernet or wireless networks.

 

Prerequisites

  • Access to an EWON device
  • eBuddy software installed on a computer
  • Ethernet cable to connect the EWON device to the computer

 

Procedure

Backup EWON Configuration

  1. Connect the EWON device to the computer using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Open eBuddy software on the computer.
  3. Click on the "Backup/Restore" button located on the top menu bar.
  4. Select the "Backup" option from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the "Backup" window, you probably do not need to include the Support files, as these are for troubleshooting purposes only.
    1. Enter the serial number of the EWON device, or the IP address of the device that you wish to back up.
  6. Select the destination folder where you want to save the backup file.
  7. Click on the "Start" button to begin the backup process.
  8. Once the backup is complete, click on the "Close" button to exit the backup window.

Restore EWON Configuration

  1. Connect the EWON device to the computer using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Open eBuddy software on the computer.
  3. Click on the "Backup/Restore" button located on the top menu bar.
  4. Select the "Restore" option from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the "Restore" window, select the backup file you want to restore.
  6. Click on the "Start" button to begin the restore process.
  7. Once the restore is complete, click on the "Close" button to exit the restore window.
