Alerts are user-generated and either limit- or threshold-crossing notifications that are powered from specific key performance indicators (KPIs) and sensors within the platform. Managers can write custom messages conveying what to do for each alerts, allowing for tailored instructions.  Insights are Pani system generated and more technically sophisticated notifications.  They combine inputs form multiple sensors and KPIs to produce not only warnings when something is affecting plant operations, but can also prescribe actions and consequences based on these inputs.  Therefore, alerts are user-configurable, while Insights are configured by Pani for each plant's equipment and operations.  All plans come with user-generated alerts, whereas Insights come standard with the upper level plans, Guide and Consult.
